Dear MJUSD students and families:

We welcome you back to another great school year, filled with positivity and hope for better things ahead. Please watch this video to enjoy. 24-25 Welcome Back Video

As I start my fourth year in this community, I am excited to continue the work we've begun and to identify new opportunities for our students with ongoing focus on celebrations, communications and Wellness. The academic focus continues to grow with great work in the area of professional development and training across the district and though we are making some positive growth, we have a long way to go.

At MJUSD, we strive to ensure that every student receives the education they deserve. Over the past three years, we've seen tremendous growth in community and business support for our programs, with new partnerships with UC Davis, Chico, and Sac State. This year, interested freshmen at MHS are enrolled in the four-year Medical Academy, and those at LHS are enrolled in the four-year Engineering Academy. These programs integrate college readiness with career readiness, preparing our students to make informed decisions about their futures. Encourage your child to explore all the options and to speak with their counselors to learn more as there are several new courses being offered at schools.

Success begins with regular attendance. Our motto is "Commit to 180!" With only 180 days of school each year, it's crucial for parents and families to ensure students attend daily to learn and thrive. If your child is missing immunizations, please schedule those at the clinics we have set up for you- details were sent to you on Parent Square. If you'd like to learn more about specific supports for your student, please reach out to your school Principal.

As the school year begins, you might notice some new faces in our schools. Please join me in congratulating new Principals, Assistant Principals, teachers and support staff as they join our MJUSD family.

As we get better at engaging more voices in our decision-making process, we have also established the student leadership team, now in its fourth year, and will elect a Student Board Member to represent the entire district. Additionally, we've created parent advisory groups for Hmong, African American, Hispanic, and American Indian families to understand and support the unique needs of these communities. Look out for dates and times for their meetings so you can join to learn how parents are engaging to make our schools better. If you have a concern or question, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

We are excited to open our doors on August 14, 2024, and we are ready for a safe and productive year. The school calendar is attached for your convenience. Remember, you can reach me at any time via email at fasrani@mjusd.k12.ca.us. Wishing each of you a wonderful and safe year and thank you for your confidence in our schools and allowing us to be part of your journey.

Sincerely,
