Bob Eckardt, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services
Dear MJUSD Staff and Community,
I am honored to return to the Marysville Joint Unified School District as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. With over 30 years of experience in education, I have served in a variety of roles—from K-8 and middle school teacher to high school administrator, including 17 deeply rewarding years at Lindhurst High School. Most recently, I spent three years in central office administration, focusing on Career Technical Education and adult education.
It is a privilege to once again serve the MJUSD community, and I look forward to working collaboratively to support the success of all students and teachers across our district.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Educational Services Department of the Marysville Joint Unified School District is to ensure high levels of learning for all students by providing equitable, rigorous, and innovative educational programs. We are committed to supporting educators, empowering families, and fostering collaborative partnerships to promote academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and college and career readiness in every classroom, every day.
Curriculum Vision
We envision a dynamic and inclusive curriculum that engages all learners, reflects diverse perspectives, and fosters critical thinking, creativity, and a love of learning. Our curriculum will be standards-based, culturally responsive, and designed to ensure that every student graduates prepared for college, career, and civic life.
To Achieve This Vision, We Will:

- Regularly review and align curriculum to California state standards.
- Adopt and implement high-quality instructional materials across grade levels and content areas.
2. Curriculum Review and Adoption Cycles
- Establish a transparent, inclusive, and research-based curriculum adoption process involving educators, parents, and community stakeholders.
3. Culturally Responsive and Inclusive Content
- Integrate diverse voices, histories, and perspectives in all content areas.
- Provide curriculum that affirms students’ identities and backgrounds.
4. Instructional Technology Integration
- Support the use of technology and digital tools to personalize and enhance learning.
- Ensure equitable access to learning platforms and resources for all students.
5. Collaborative Curriculum Planning
- Create time and structures for teachers to engage in collaborative lesson design, unit planning, and curriculum mapping.
6. Ongoing Evaluation and Feedback
- Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor curriculum effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
Professional Development Vision
We envision a professional learning culture where educators are empowered through ongoing, high-quality professional development that is data-driven, collaborative, and aligned to instructional best practices. We are committed to cultivating teacher leadership, enhancing instructional capacity, and supporting cycle of continuous improvement to positively impact student achievement.
To Achieve This Vision, We Will:
1. Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Support PLCs at every school site to promote collaboration, data analysis, and shared instructional practices.
2. Differentiated Professional Learning
- Offer a variety of PD formats (workshops, webinars, coaching, online modules) tailored to teacher needs, experience levels, and content areas.
3. Focus on Equity and Inclusion
- Deliver ongoing training in culturally responsive teaching, trauma-informed practices, and English learner supports.
4. Leadership Development
- Empower teachers to grow as instructional leaders by providing professional development that builds the skills to foster and facilitate a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement in their teams.
- Create pathways for teacher leadership and provide training for aspiring administrators to strengthen instructional leadership across the district.
5. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
