The primary purpose of the Transportation Department is to safely transport students to and from school. This service is provided by a dedicated, caring and professional group of employees including Bus Drivers, Mechanics and office staff. School bus transportation is the safest mode of transportation to and from school. School Bus drivers receive 40 hours of in class and on the road training and must pass a number of written and driving tests. Once certified, School Bus Drivers continue to receive training every year. School buses are inspected by MJUSD Mechanics every 45 days or 3,000 miles whichever comes first and are inspected by the CHP yearly. The Department transports over 2,600 home to school as well as an additional 310 students with disabilities over 75 miles within the MJUSD district boundaries.
