    Flood Evacuation Procedures

The safety of students and staff is our highest priority. In the event of a flood evacuation, each school site will:

    1. Receive a CODE YELLOW Catapult message warning us of a potential evacuation.

    2. Take necessary precautions (stay alert, cancel all scheduled outside events, and communicate via Catapult & email).

    3. Follow the instructions given to us by our District Office, Law Enforcement, and Site Administration (including elevation to CODE RED).

    4. DEPENDING ON THE URGENCY OF THE SPECIFIC FLOOD EMERGENCY, STUDENTS WILL BE MOVED TO THE NEAREST AND SAFEST HIGHEST GROUND, INCLUDING ROOFTOPS, HILLSIDES, OR SECOND STORIES AT SOME SCHOOLS.

    5. Account for students using Catapult and report any missing students.

    6. Be open and willing to assist with additional duties as assigned.

    7. District and/or site will notify parents.

    8. Evacuation routes will be determined based on the nearest safe routes to higher ground, in order to transport students to higher and safer locations within the District, with continued communication to parents.
