Welcome to Mrs. Hileman's Class

Curious about how or what we're learning?  See "Our Classroom" for expectations, class schedule, current spelling words, and descriptions of how each subject is taught.  Visit "Meet Mrs. Hileman" to find out more about me.  Check out "Kid Kudos" for award winners, current Spelling, Accelerated Reader (AR) & Mathfacts in a Flash standings.  Feel free to e-mail me using the "Contact Form."  Interested in learning games for your kids?  Click on "Useful Links" for some great sites and to look up the AR level of books at home.

SchoolCenter Picture Help is Welcome !!!

There are many ways to help also. Don't be bashful.

  • First, be your childrens' advocate.  Know what their grade level standards are and check their homework to ensure they understand it and are completing it correctly.
  • Communicate questions and concerns as they arise so we can work proactively together towards your child's success.  You may contact me through our communication log (stapled to their homework folder), by phone (741-6101 X5110), or e-mail (chileman@mjusd.com).
  • Send supplies as you are able.  The list includes ongoing needs:  fine-point washable markers, zip-lock bags, used reading books such as from the Scholastic Book Club order (to fill our classroom library)
  • My favorite . . . Invest your time in the classroom! Thank you Mrs. Medlar for coming in weekly to test students individually on high-frequency words.  Certain activities require small groups or one-on-one. To help in the room, you need to be fingerprinted & TB tested. Contact Miss Theresa for more info.

The more parents are involved, the more our children will achieve.

 What's Happening . . .

  • Videos of "Art for the Sky" are on sale for $10.  On Friday, April 12 Arboga students created a cougar on the field using our brown, black, and red colored shirts .  A photo of us from a glider was taken.
  • Your children LOVED reading your encouraging letters each day before taking the test.  In fact, some still pull them out to read them.  Thank you so much!!!
  • Thank you for teaching your children to respect their teacher.  I felt very appreciated and valued as I received notes, cards, fruit, flowers, and candy during this week of appreciation!
