Gay Todd, Ed. D.
Dr. Gay Todd has left her mark on education since earning her undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies (1975) and teaching credential from California State University, Chico (1976). As a life-long learner, she expanded her own education base when she achieved a master’s degree at CSU, Chico (1987) and completed doctoral work at the University of LaVerne (1997).
Gay’s classroom experiences include elementary, high school, community college, and graduate school. Her site administrative tenure spans from elementary to middle school levels. After advancing to the district office, Gay has held critical positions for the Marysville Joint Unified School District including: Director of Elementary Education, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, and Deputy Superintendent. As Superintendent, Gay is the chief education leader for the district.
Gay is a strong supporter of district and site administrators. She understands the everyday struggles of classroom teachers and works collaboratively with certificated and classified employees to promote effective instructional strategies.
Not only has Gay made an impact on the education delivery at the district level, she has also been active at the state level providing valuable insight while collaborating with the California Department of Education (CDE) and the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) to pioneer standards-based curriculum. She has served as a School Assistance Intervention Team Member for SCOE and is a CDE approved External Evaluator for Immediate Intervention/Underperforming Schools Program and High Priority Schools Grant participants. Her expertise was called upon as she was part of the Instructional Materials Advisory Panel for the statewide adoption of Reading/Language Arts textbooks. Recently, Gay served as the chairperson for the Yuba County Children’s Council and is a past-president of the Colusa, Sutter, and Yuba Chapter of the Association of California School Administrators.
Gay has been recognized by the Colusa, Sutter, and Yuba Chapter of the Association of California School Administrators as being the outstanding Superintendent of the Year (2006-07), Curriculum and Instruction Administrator of the Year (2003-04 and 2004-05), and Administrator of the Year – Middle Grades Principal (1997). In addition, she received the Valued Service Award (2000-01 and 1998-99). Her impressive career has been acknowledged with almost every award the Association offers.
