The Marysville Joint Unified School District is dedicated to academic achievement and success for all students.  Regular school attendance is an integral part of that success. In an effort to continue our dedication to improve academic skills and social and emotional growth, school personnel will carefully monitor and enforce student attendance. This monitoring may include either medical or school personnel verification of illness if your child is absent for more than 10% of the school days enrolled for the year. This action will prevent your student from having unexcused absences and will help maintain his or her academic program.

DISCIPLINE

It is the intent of the Marysville Joint Unified School District to provide all students with a safe learning environment in which optimum learning can take place.  Students are a key part of that environment.  Those who obey rules, respect others and take responsibility for their actions assist the District in establishing a secure climate so that all students may learn.

The Board believes that high expectations for student behavior, coupled with effective classroom management and parent involvement can minimize the need for discipline.

When student misconduct occurs, staff shall attempt to identify and address the cause of the student's behavior and determine the appropriate discipline to be implemented.  At all times, the safety of students and staff, and the maintenance of an orderly school environment shall be priorities when determining appropriate discipline.  Staff shall use preventative measures and positive conflict resolution techniques whenever possible, depending on the frequency and seriousness of the violation.  Continually disruptive students may be assigned to alternative programs or be subject to removal from school.

Maintaining an environment which promotes learning and protects the health, safety, and welfare of all students may require the suspension or expulsion of a student from regular classroom instruction. Students shall be suspended and/or expelled in accordance with state and federal laws, Administrative Regulations, and the "Student Conduct Code."
