Under the direction of the Superintendent, the technology department supports the 23 schools of the Marysville Joint Unified School District as well as the district office. The department is managed by the Director of Technology.
The direction of the technology department is guided by the Technology Advisory Committee (TAC). The Director of Technology facilitates the TAC meetings. The TAC consists of the Superintendent, Asst. Superintendent of Business Services, site administrators, teachers, and classified staff. The committee meets twice yearly to determine goals for the district’s technology plan and to discuss progress in reaching those goals.
The department also administers the district’s E-Rate applications. The Schools and Libraries Universal Service Program was established as part of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 with the express purpose of providing affordable access to telecommunications services for all eligible schools and libraries. The Schools and Libraries Program, commonly called E-Rate, is administered by the Schools and Libraries Division (SLD) of the Universal Services Administrative Company. The program provides various discounts for telecommunications services, internet access, internal connections, hardware, and accessories. The level of discounts schools are eligible to receive depends on economic need and location, rural or urban. Once approved, discounts for services are applied direct from the SLD.
The department’s primary purpose is to support our students, teachers, administrators and support staff in providing resources to improve their learning and to increase the ease and efficiency of their jobs.
In striving toward the purpose, the department supports:
• Computers and peripherals
• Projectors and Smartboards
• Telecommunications – phone and cellular
• Network Services
• Google accounts
• Student Information
• Software support
